Spring Concert at St Peter's Rawdon
Our fiftieth anniversary celebrations got underway in fine style, with a Spring Anniversary Concert at St Peter’s Rawdon held on Saturday 15 March. Friends and supporters from far afield came and joined us, the church provided fabulous interval refreshments, and despite the boiler packing up the audience kept warm with blankets, hot water bottles and brilliant performances from soloists and ensemble. Thank you to all who came and we hope you will support us with our tour of Iolanthe in the Autumn, and our one off performance of Ruddigore and the G&S Festival in Buxton this August.

Ruddigore at Buxton
Our first chairman was the late, great Ian Smith who, nineteen years later, had the vision for an international Gilbert and Sullivan Festival. Members of the Savoyards were instrumental in helping to start and build up the festival and we have been invited to perform on our 50th birthday at the 2025 Festival. The date is Thursday 7 August (2.30pm) at the Pavilion Arts Centre. Tickets at £16.50 are available online here

Iolanthe - our autumn touring production
The first public performance by the ‘Savoyards Appreciation Society-West Yorkshire’ was Iolanthe at the Todmorden Hippodrome, and so, fifty years later, we have chosen Iolanthe as our anniversary touring production. The tour begins on Saturday 6 September at the Penistone Paramount and continues each weekend and into October visiting Settle, Richmond, Bingley and Scarborough. Full details below.
Our 50th anniversary autumn production will be the operetta we began with half a century ago

Ruddigore at Buxton
Our 2024 production of Ruddigore returns to the Gilbert and Sullivan festival at Buxton after great reviews!
”Congratulations on staging a truly unforgettable Ruddigore in Settle last night. My wife and I are life-long G&S fans, and attend Buxton for the festival every year. We believe that your company are streets ahead of the rest……. The consistency and quality in last night's lead roles was so impressive that you have now won two new fans who will see you again .. Keep up the good work!”
"Loved the intimacy of the theatre (Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond). It was hard to remember we were not a Georgian audience bent on joining in, heckling, shouting and being rowdy… please go back there next year, I want to go again.”
If you missed the production everyone is talking about, then there is one more chance to see it, at the Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton on Thursday 7 August 2025
“Wonderful production. Loved it all - singing, direction, choreography, costumes..and marvellous live orchestra.”
“Fantastic production! A brilliant watch. Well done to all involved”
“One of the more bonkers G&S's ( big fan) but I loved the production- traditional but with some tongue in cheek moments”
